The answer is NO! Mack Brown is the most overrated coach in the Big 12! The guy has not even won the Big 12! Even R C Suckum accomplished that! Mack gets spanked year after year by Oklahoma!

Let's say he beats Oklahoma this year. That is if he does not screw up his QB situation. If he happens to beat Oklahoma this year, odds say he loses to Texas A&M at Kyle field.

My feeling is Mack is a GREAT recruiter, but he has many, many shortcomings as a coach. If he wins a championship it will be one of those situation where the talent was so overwhelming that it cancelled out his poor game coaching abilities.

I thought you'd find your way to this thread. It's easy to say that about Mack...now. Let's just say that I know some things that you dont at present.

Arkansas has a legit shot as does any school versus another, but it would take some turnovers, I havent looked at their defensive backs yet. Texas didnt show much.

Ark cannot beat UT SU, but could land in the money if high enough.

ATX, I'll bet you some El Arroyo fish tacos and a tab of brew at the Gingerman, that Selvin takes it to the house more than Cedric does this fall, as long as he gets at least 45% as many carries as Benson.

I dont think it's as much Cedric as it is the offensive line. They still werent impressive in run blocking Saturday. But most teams gameplan to stop him at all costs and make the passing game beat them. The first coach that Mack didnt renew was Nunez the O-line coach last year. Last year it wasnt Mack calling a lot of the plays. I'm pretty sure that Mack realizes that if he uses the pass to set up the run instead of the other way around...

I think this offensive line will get a lot better each game. Texas has been hurt the last two years at the TE position, that really cost them in the 3rd and short situations. Hill, the monster freshman TE is out for the year, but this guy will be a legend. I was hoping he would come in and really lay down the block when we use Vincent. Texas is absolutely stacked on offense, even the 3rd string QB was Parade. I didnt think the LB's showed a whole lot, but the front 4 played well. It's hard to say much from the first game of the season, but I cant wait for them to open up the playbook. I dont think Selvin gets the carries, Mack is too much of a loyalist. Benson was one block away from breaking a few, NMST stacked the line a lot to stop him, the passing game was there all day. 2 defensive scores, 2 on special teams, I give them a B+.

Texas proved sat night that they have a talented back-up QB who could come in and give OU a different look. Stoops used this method to beat the horns in 2001 when the back-up came in and lead OU on its lone scoring drive which would of been enough in a 14-3 victory. Actually Stoops used smothering defense and a high flying Roy Williams to snuff em out. I'm curious what Mack's excuse will be this year? "O-line ate too many statefair corndogs and I told them they shoulda put mustard on em instead of mayo."

Its not suprising to see the goblin in this thread.

I hate to agree with an Okie but Stoops trumps Mack on game days. Thing is, Texas/OU series is all about streaks and has been for a long time. One team winning 3, 4 or 5 in a row isnt suprising. Wasnt too long ago Texas had to face legendary coaches such as Gary Gibbs or John Blake prowling the sidelines. Whatever the outcome this year, it is ABSOLUTELY the best atmosphere in college football. Half the Cotton Bowl in burnt orange, the other half crimson red.
